Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom will fight Aaron Carter in a celebrity boxing match on June 12, according to TMZ Sports.

The bout will reportedly take place at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Both men have been in the gym to prepare for the three-round exhibition. Celebrity Boxing mogul Damon Feldman had this to say about the fight:

“It's gonna be a war, man. It's gonna be a knockout, no doubt.”

While the 41-year-old Odom has a notable size advantage (6-foot-10 vs. 6-foot-1), the 33-year-old Carter told TMZ Sports he “grew up street fighting” and is ready to take on the former NBA forward. Of course, Carter has experience beating Shaquille O'Neal in an athletic competition, so how hard could Lamar Odom be?

On a more serious note, it's great to see Odom putting in the work in preparation for this fight after dealing with so many demons in recent years after his NBA playing career. After a near-death experience in 2015 due to a drug overdose, he dealt with numerous subsequent health issues, including strokes and heart attacks. However, he returned to the basketball court in 2019 as a member of the BIG3, and now he's using boxing as a way to keep his body right.

Aaron Carter — a musician and the brother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter — has also struggled with addiction in recent years. He sought treatment for his issue in 2017 before releasing a fifth studio album in 2018.

Lamar Odom vs. Aaron Carter should certainly be quite the spectacle.
