There is now a growing concern over whether Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will be available for the 2022 UEFA Champions League Final against Real Madrid.

Thiago left Liverpool’s Premier League season finale against Wolverhampton due to an apparent hamstring injury. The Spanish international limped off the pitch during the late stages of the first half and was subsequently replaced by James Milner for the second half.

Thiago finished the contest with 40 passes completed and one goal-scoring chance created, as the Reds went on to secure a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Thiago’s injury, where he noted that medical tests on the veteran midfielder will be conducted.

“Not good, but I can’t say more,” Klopp said. “He was outside with the families, had his little girl on his shoulders, so he could walk, that’s obviously a good sign. All the rest we will see from tomorrow.

“[It’s the] lower part of the body. I know it, but actually don’t want to talk now about it. We will see. Give us a chance to have the [scan].”

Klopp did also go on to note after the game that he perceives Thiago will not be ready in time to feature in the clash with Real Madrid, although he is waiting for an official word on this matter.

Liverpool is also keeping an eye on Fabinho’s status for the Champions League final, as he missed the fixtures against Southampton and Wolverhampton due to his muscle injury.

Liverpool is aiming to cap off the campaign with its third trophy win after claiming victory in the EFL Cup and FA Cup competitions earlier in the season.
