The battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar seems to be near it's conclusion but it appears as if LeBron James unintentionally got himself involved. This week, a video of James dancing to the DJ Mustard-produced Drake diss bop ‘They Not Like Us' circulated and and shocked many rap fans due to seemingly close relationship that Drake and James have had over the years.

This isn't James's first time vibing to apparent Drake disses. In late March he was seen jamming out to Future & Metro Boomin's song ‘Like That' from album We Don't Trust You which featured Lamar dropping his rap beef starting lyrics aimed largely at Drake with references to his “First Person Shooter” song alongside J. Cole.

Metro Boomin' didn't make the moment any better, as he tweeted LeBron's stat line from that night saying, “bro was warming up to Like That then went 9/10 from 3 and 13/17 for 40 points”

Drake and LeBron have a pretty fond history. Drake collaborated with Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, and Eminem to produce the track ‘Forever' which was a song on the soundtrack for the More Than A Game documentary about James's time as a high schooler that was released in 2009. Drake has referenced LeBron favorably in lyrics such as his song 5 AM in Toronto where he says at the end of the track, “I'm on some King James sh*t I'm trying to win here again, a young ***** trying to win here again” in reference to LeBron's time with the Miami Heat.

Drake then appeared on the LeBron & Maverick Carter-led barbershop-style talk show The Shop in 2018 following his rap beef with Pusha T. Drake was particularly open about the dispute, even admitting that he lost.

“I’m gonna tell you something, I knew something was gonna come up about my kid,” he said during the episode. “They had to add the deadbeat dad thing to make it more appealing, which is fine. The mom and dad thing… Whatever. You don’t even know my family. But wishing death upon my friend [producer Noah “40” Shebib] who has MS… I study rap battles for a living. When you mention defenseless people who are sick in the hospital, who have passed away, I just believe that there’s a price you have to pay for that. It’s over! Someone’s gonna fucking punch you in the fucking face. The shit’s done, the event’s over. I wanted to do other things. I didn’t want to further your career by rapping back to you and having this exchange.”

Ironically enough, Drake also partnered with James's media company Uninterrupted in 2019 per a report by The Hollywood Reporter. Drake's deal made him a co-owner and promoter of Uninterrupted Canada, enabling Canadian athletes to connect with fans through various content formats, from short videos to featured pieces.

LeBron and Drake share close connections, raising uncertainty about LeBron's reaction to dancing to diss tracks targeting him. Let's hope for a peaceful resolution and that they maintain their friendship and various business collaborations.
