Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi was just named the Ballon d'Or winner for a record seventh time in his illustrious career.

Messi's family was in the crowd to see him accept the award, and his kids' reactions were absolutely priceless:

It was quite the moment for Lionel Messi:

This is Lionel Messi's second consecutive Ballon d'Or after also winning in 2019. There was no award given out in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Messi also won in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Cristiano Ronaldo is second-all-time as a five-time winner.

Messi beat out Robert Lewandowski, Jorginho and others to win this year:

It has been quite the 2021 for Lionel Messi. The superstar had an emotional exit from Barcelona earlier in the year after spending his entire senior career with the club up to that point. Messi then joined another European powerhouse in PSG.

Messi had a great final season with Barca and is making his presence felt for PSG. He just recently racked up a hat trick of assists in a big victory for the club.

The 34-year-old also made waves playing for Argentina in 2021. Messi led Argentina to a historic Copa America victory, and he was named a player of the tournament along with Brazil's Neymar. Later in the year, he scored a hat trick in a World Cup qualifier.

Even after all these years, it sure doesn't seem as if Lionel Messi is slowing down. This Ballon d'Or win is just another testament to his greatness and longevity on the pitch.
