With this year's rookie class officially settled into the 2017-18 NBA season, the debate regarding next year's top pick has already begun. Although the recent season-ending injury to Missouri freshman Michael Porter Jr. may have already narrowed down the list of names, next year's class will still likely feature a bevy of young stars at the top of the lottery such as Duke freshman Marvin Bagley III and Arizona's DeAndre Ayton.

However, another name that is quickly rising in every mock draft is Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic. According to David Pick, one NBA scout says the Real Madrid point guard is essentially a lock to go first overall in next year's draft:

The scout's comments may seem a bit bold considering Doncic would be just the second European player in NBA history to be taken with the first pick since the Toronto Raptors drafted big man Andrea Bargnani. Furthermore, not many have actually seen Doncic play since he has spent his entire career overseas. However, it is easy to see the hype for those that have actually seen his wizardry.

His game is similar to that of Philadelphia 76ers rookie phenom Ben Simmons, only Luka Doncic also happens to be a deadly 3-point shooter. Not to mention at just 18 years old, he is already the most decorated player in Slovenia next to his fellow countryman and Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic. Needless to say, any of the teams listed above would be more than happy to add a 6-foot-8, playmaker to their roster.
