Brandon Ingram made more than just a great impression during his first Las Vegas Summer League game with the Los Angeles Lakers, dropping 26 points to lead his team in a 96-93 opening loss against the L.A. Clippers. He was also an incredibly supportive teammate despite that being his only game on the court.

The soon-to-be second-year forward was seen in the Lakers' bench for every game, knowing he was scratched for the remainder of the summer with leg cramps.

A proud president Magic Johnson commended the 19-year-old for his camaraderie and sense of unity as the Lakers took the Summer League title on Monday.

“He stayed. He didn't have to,” Johnson said, according to our own Bob Garcia. “It shows me the type of leader that he is and will become.”

Ingram has made the right strides in term of leadership as he is expected to take on a larger role this upcoming season, tapping into some of his scoring ability the way he did as the most-seasoned player in the Summer League roster.

“[It] showed me the type of leader that he is and that he’s going to become,” Johnson added, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation.

Luke Walton‘s squad will have to count on mutual support from his players if they hope to make this a team on the rise in a Western Conference that only gets tougher by the minute.

Ingram's emergence is of ultimate necessity if the Lakers hope to construct a core that is stitched for the long run.
