Though he's still without an official timetable for return, Markelle Fultz has begun the process of assimilating with the Orlando Magic, according to a report from John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com.

The Magic acquired Fultz from the Philadelphia 76ers at this year's trade deadline. The former No. 1 overall pick has been out of commission since early December due to a case of thoracic outlet syndrome, which is a condition that occurs when blood vessels or nerves in the space between your collarbone and your first rib (thoracic outlet) are compressed. The ailment can cause pain in several areas, including the shoulders, neck and fingers.

The Magic knew what they were getting into when they traded for Fultz. The team has made it clear that they do not plan on rushing him back into the fold, despite the fact that they're fighting for a spot in the playoffs.

“He’s still actually rehabbing his shoulder, and he’s not even able to really do much on the floor yet,” Magic head coach Steve Clifford said in a Sirius XM interview earlier this month. “It’s a pretty significant shoulder injury, and I would say he’s starting to do a little bit, but it would be very difficult for him to get back this year.”

Fultz made 19 appearances with the Sixers before shutting it down in December, racking up averages of 8.2 points on 41.9 percent shooting from the field (28.6 percent from beyond the arc), 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and just under one steal (0.9) in 22.5 minutes per outing.

The Magic will be back in action on Wednesday night, when they'll welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to town. Tip-off inside the Amway Center is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
