Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets is a huge fan of the NBA. Durant’s obsessions with NBA minutiae is well known, and he further expressed his NBA “fanaticism” on Monday night when he tweeted about watching Nikola Vucevic for the Orlando Magic.

While Vucevic might’ve been something of a cult favorite prior to last season, Vuc helped carry the Magic to the playoffs last season behind a truly brilliant season. His all-around impact on both ends led to him being named to his first All-Star team at age 28.

It was fortuitous timing for the veteran, as he became a free agent in the 2019 offseason after that exceptional season. He was rewarded in July with a four-year, $100 million deal, which will keep him in Orlando until 2023.

The 2019-20 season will mark his eighth with the Magic, and his 2018-19 campaign was clearly the best of his career. Vuc produced career-highs in the following categories: a 57.3 true shooting percentage, a 25.5 Player Efficiency Rating, 10.1 win shares and a 6.4 box plus/minus.

Beyond that, Vucevic also shot 36.4 percent from downtown on the highest volume — 17.1 percent attempt rate, 231 attempts — of his career.

Clearly, the entire league at large witnessed Vucevic’s ascent last season to All-Star status, but any discerning NBA fan knew that Vucevic’s solid overall play on both ends and nifty footwork and finishing around the basket coupled with a gorgeous shooting stroke made him an enjoyable player to watch.

It’s good to know that NBA legend Kevin Durant agrees.
