There has been speculation for months that Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland could join Man City this summer. It's finally becoming a reality.

Per David Ornstein of The Athletic, Haaland to City is essentially a “done deal”, and is expected to be announced this week.

Sources in Germany have told The Athletic that the prolific Norway striker’s proposed move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City is now a “done deal”, and should be confirmed this week.

Real Madrid was also in the mix for Haaland, but the Norwegian's connection to Man City proved to be a difference-maker. His father, Alf-Inge Haaland, played for the Citizens during his footballing career. Haaland was also born in Leeds.

Haaland joined Dortmund in January of 2020 after breaking onto the scene with Red Bull Salzburg, where he announced himself to the world in the Champions League. Since making the switch to Germany, the youngster has been absolutely clinical, bagging 85 goals in just 88 appearances.

It's no secret that Man City need a true No. 9 and they're finally about to get one. Goals aren't typically a problem for Pep Guardiola's side, but being able to feed through balls to a player of Haaland's caliber should prove to be an immediate hit at the Etihad. His versatile skill set up top is made for the Premier League, possessing speed, physicality, and the ability to finish amongst the best of them.

Perhaps Erling Haaland can be the missing piece to the puzzle for Man City as they look to avoid another Champions League collapse next season.
