Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes wants to say sorry to the fans in attendance at Old Trafford during the derby match against Manchester City.

Just when Manchester United fans thought the club will be able to finally get back to its winning ways following the Tottenham Hotspur win, Manchester City just proved them all wrong.

The reigning English Premier League champions thumped their derby rivals Manchester United 2-0 at home and Red Devils midfielder Bruno Fernandes couldn't be more disappointed.

Speaking after the defeat, Fernandes sincerely apologized to the thousands of Manchester United fans who supported the club in the must-win derby match at Old Trafford.

“We just have to apologize to the fans and that's it, because it was not good enough from us,” Fernandes said via Manchester Evening News. “[It was a] Great atmosphere they create. They pushed us until the end, they tried to give that energy to us but from us, it was not enough.”

Manchester United will be hoping to steal a win once again in the English top flight when the club faces Watford on Nov. 20. For Fernandes, the team must use the long break to re-assess themselves and figure out how to do better moving forward.

“We know we can do much better and we know this is not enough for a player who is representing this big club,” he pointed out. “We have to look at the mirror. I'm saying again the same things probably from the last interview, but that's it. We have to look at ourselves, everyone at his home, understand what they can do better to help the team.”
