Deyonta Davis was drafted with the 1st pick in the 2nd Round of last year's draft by the Boston Celtics. Then, he was immediately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies on draft day.

Davis played in a total of 36 games this year, only averaging 6.6 minutes per game. Per 36 minutes, Deyonta averaged 8.8 points and 9.1 rebounds. The rebounding numbers are quite solid, but Davis must continue to work on his scoring ability.

Marc Gasol, Davis's teammate and mentor in Memphis, has been a big fan of Davis's game from the start. Recently, he even went so far as to say that he could one day be one of the best big men in the NBA.

Now, as we know, having the tools to carry a franchise and actually doing it are two completely different things. But, if there is anyone that can teach someone what it takes to become an elite big man in the NBA, it's Marc Gasol.

Gasol will be a fantastic mentor for Davis as he tries to live up to the big expectations from his teammate.
