Luka Doncic exited Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors with hamstring soreness. Doncic reportedly remained in Dallas and will not play in Thursday's game, the second of a back-to-back, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, per NBA insider Marc Stein.

Luka was not listed on Wednesday's NBA injury report. He even played most of the game before leaving in the fourth quarter. Mavs head coach Jason Kidd revealed that Luka gave the signal that his hamstring was tight, ultimately leading to his departure from the contest.

Mavericks trying to upset Thunder despite Luka Doncic's injury absence

With Doncic out on Thursday, the Mavs will have to find a way to pull off an upset over a talented Thunder team. Oklahoma City has been one of the best teams in the Western Conference all season long and they play especially well at home.

“You talk about the best team in the West with Oklahoma City,” Jason Kidd told reporters after Wednesday's game. “They are playing well. Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) is the head of the snake. You gotta try to keep him out of the paint. They got a lot of other weapons, Chet (Holmgren), those guys, they are playing well. They play extremely well at home so this is another great test for us.”

Kyrie Irving will lead Dallas amid Luka Doncic's injury. Irving issued a challenge to the team following Wednesday's victory over the Warriors.

“We have more work to do,” Irving said after Wednesday's win. “It's just a mentality, there's more work to do. Just take it one game at a time. Continue to put some quality quarters together and not allow any plays out there to discourage us or get us down emotionally. We know what's at stake here, we don't have to talk about it over and over. Just putting the mission in front of ourselves and working towards that.”

Dallas will receive a couple of days off following Thursday's game before hosting the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The Mavs are certainly hopeful that the extra rest will increase the odds of a quick Luka Doncic return.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Doncic's injury status.
