Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has been officially ruled out of their Friday night game with the Houston Rockets due to his bothersome ankles.

As NBA insider Marc Stein reported, it's the 15th game of 39 contests that Doncic has missed this season. His latest ankle injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of their Wednesday showdown with the Golden State Warriors. It is not the same ankle issue he sustained earlier in the season that cost him several games, as it is his right ankle this time, but it remains a concerning problem given the frequency he is getting the injury.

“I twisted it a little bit, but not that bad” Doncic said after the Mavs' win over the Warriors, per Sports Illustrated. “I guess it will be OK. It just hurts a little bit, but I will be fine.”

Luka Doncic was initially listed as doubtful, so his absence didn't come as a shock for some. However, it certainly adds more problems for the Mavs who are already without Kristaps Porzingis due to health and safety protocols.

Not to mention that head coach Jason Kidd has also been sidelined for the contest due to his recent positive COVID-19 test.

With the absences of their top tactician and Top 2 players, the Mavs will have to rely on Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr. to carry the scoring load. It will be difficult against a red-hot Rockets team coming off a clutch win over the Washington Wizards, but if there is one thing Dallas has proven, they are a deep team that is more than just about Luka and KP.
