Many people feel that Mavericks rising star rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. was robbed last night during the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and you can't really blame them for feeling that way after both he and Indiana Pacers star shooting guard Victor Oladipo were eliminated in the first round of the competition.

Smith Jr. even tweeted out his displeasure with the judges regarding the score of 39-of-50 he got on his first dunk of a double, which was a lot harder to pull off than people realize.

Oladipo was unable to finish his dunk and still got a score of 31, which understandably had Smith Jr. irritated with the judges.

The underwhelming score of 39 ultimately was the undoing of Smith Jr., as his second dunk in the first round was arguably the best dunk of the entire contest when he did a reverse between his legs and finished the jam with the opposite hand.

A video of the Smith Jr. dunk that received a very questionable score, which was tweeted in a video by the Mavs' official account, can be viewed below. He did try a different dunk that was unsuccessful before this one, but it seems a bit extreme that the judges docked him so many points after Oladipo failed to connect on his first dunk entirely.

His second dunk got him a 50 from the judges, but an overall score of 89-of-100 was not enough to push him through to the final round.

Utah Jazz rising star rookie shooting guard Donovan Mitchell went on to defeat Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. in the finals, but hopefully this motivates Smith Jr. to enter the dunk contest again next year to take home the crown he was seemingly robbed of.
