Whenever Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki retires from the NBA, the future Hall of Famer is going to kick back and spend a lot of time with his family.

Nowitzki signed a one-year deal with the Mavs last summer. Dirk hasn't announced if this is going to be his last season in the NBA, but it sort of feels like it.

If that's the case, Nowitzki is looking forward to relaxing with his family, but says basketball will still be a part of his life down the road.

Being an NBA player has a lot of perks. You're making an insane amount of money playing a sport which you love and get to travel across the country.

However, the negative is that you are always away from your family. Every time you hear Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade talk about his retirement, he's always saying he can't wait to spend more time with his wife and kids, and Dirk Nowitzki is no different.

The 40-year-old has played in 26 games this season for the Mavs. The 14-time All-Star is averaging just 4.7 points while shooting 35.5 percent from the field and 30.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Dirk has earned the right to walk away from the game on his own terms.
