After making the move to the Dallas Mavericks right on the trade deadline, veteran shooting guard JJ Redick is now set to make his debut for his new team. The 36-year-old is currently dealing with a foot injury, but as it turns out, he should be able to play through it and make his first appearance for the Mavs on Monday.

Redick himself acknowledged that he is currently not pain-free, but that he still can't wait to suit up for his new team (h/t Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News):

After a forgettable (half) season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Redick finally got his wish to get out of a dire situation in New Orleans. It was the Mavs that heeded his come-get-me plea, with Dallas sending Wesley Inwundu, James Johnson, and a 2021 second-round pick in exchange for Redick and Nicolo Melli.

The last we saw Redick take the floor for the Pelicans was on March 3. He has since been dealing with a lingering foot injury, but as he indicated above, he should be good to go for the Mavs come Monday.

Dallas is set to face off against Southwest rivals, the San Antonio Spurs, on Sunday. They then follow it up with a match against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, and Redick is expected to come off the bench for coach Rick Carlisle. He's likely going to show some rust after sitting out the past month, and it would not be surprising if he is placed on some sort of minutes limit in his first few games. Nevertheless, Redick could play a key role for the Mavs the rest of the way as they look to secure their spot in the playoffs picture out West.
