Rookie phenom Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is now the second player since 1983 to log in at least 500 points, 150 rebounds, and 100 assists by his 28th game in the NBA.

Per Basketball-Reference, in his first 28 games as a pro, the 19-year-old has tallied 514 points, 188 rebounds, and 134 assists. The first player to achieve this milestone was LeBron James, who had 541 points, 169 rebounds, and 169 assists in his first 28 games:

The statistic simply proves that Luka Doncic is not just the future franchise player of the Mavericks, but also a future face of the NBA. He is turning out to be the best in his rookie class. Among all first-year players, he's leading in points per game (18.4), second in rebounds (6.7), and second in assists (4.9.). This early, analysts believe that he'll take of Rookie of the Year honors.

Yet as most NBA fans know, this wasn't the case before he was drafted. Despite being named the youngest EuroLeague MVP at 19 years old, some NBA scouts were hesitant in drafting him. Some said that he was too slow or he would take several years to fully adjust to the NBA style of play.

But here we are, nearing the midpoint of the season, and fans and critics alike are raving for the young Slovenian. Given Doncic's rapid progress, the Mavs may be at the top of the NBA standings sooner than expected.
