The Dallas Mavericks look to improve upon their 2022-23 NBA Season. The Mavs went 38-44 and narrowly missed the NBA Play-In Tournament. Now, Luka Doncic and the company are reloaded and ready to make noise in the Western Conference. Dallas recently made a move to extend Josh Green for three years on a $41 million contract. Doncic is clearly excited, given his latest Instagram story. Doncic responded to the news by tagging Green and said, “Next dinner on you” followed by a series of joyful emojis.

Luka Doncic and the Mavs are ecstatic about Josh Green

Mavs, Josh Green

Green was drafted by Dallas 18th overall in 2020. Since then, Green has steadily improved to solidify himself as an offensive weapon for the Mavs. Last season, Green averaged 9.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor and 40.2 percent for three-pointers. Green's hard work and improvement made room for Dallas to extend him.

Doncic has clearly developed a great respect for his teammate.

Doncic's style of play demands hot three-point shooters like Green to be ready to catch and shoot. In 66 games, Doncic averaged 8.0 assists per game which ranked him 6th in the NBA. Naturally, the All-NBA star is happy to have great support stay in Dallas with him, although that is not the only thing he is excited about.

It appears Doncic wants Green to take him out to dinner. With Green's new contract, he should have no problems picking up the tab. Still, he likely will want Doncic to show some restraint when browses the menu.

The Mavs open their NBA season on Wednesday, October 25th against the San Antonio Spurs.
