After picking up the victory in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic has a renewed confidence that might power him and the Mavs to pull off a historic upset.

After the game, Doncic reiterated his firm belief that they can oust the Clippers — a team heavily favored to make it all the way to the NBA Finals.

“It was great. I’m in a way better mood today. We’ve just got three left. For sure [we can win the series]. If you don’t believe it, you’re not supposed to be here,” the Mavs superstar said, per Ben Golliver of The Washington Post.

The Slovenian dropped a team-high 28 points on top of eight rebounds and seven assists to lead the Mavs to a 127-114 win. He was efficient from all spots, making 8-of-17 shots from the field, 4-of-7 from deep, and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. He played just 28 minutes due to foul trouble, but he did not really need to stay much on the floor after his teammates had an equally productive night.

Apart from Luka Doncic, five other Mavs players scored in double digits, led by Kristaps Porzingis who had 23 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in 17 points, Trey Burke added 16 markers, Seth Curry had 15, while Boban Marjanoic finished with 13.

A lot can still happen in the series, but winning a game against a powerhouse squad will do wonders for the Mavs as they move forward in the series.

Game 3 between the Clippers and the Mavs will be on Friday, August 21.
