Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant had some nice things to say about Mavs rookie sensation Luka Doncic following their 112-109 loss at the hands of the Slovenian Wonder Boy.

“I like him a lot. He's polished, he is skilled and you can tell he played professional basketball already. They got a great guy in him to lead this franchise in the future. Him and Dennis Smith Jr. play well together.” Durant said, per Dwain Price on Twitter.

The two-time Finals MVP had nothing but praises for the Doncic after the latter hit a tough go-ahead one-footed floater in the lane to give the Mavericks a 109-108 lead with a minute and change left in the fourth quarter. After a couple of possessions, Durant missed a turn-around jumper that he typically makes and failed to give the Warriors the lead.

Golden State, down two points with 12 seconds remaining, had another chance to tie or even take the lead. However, Klay Thompson wasn't able to convert on his jumper. Doncic got the rebound, and took it upon himself to ice the game with some clutch free-throws, giving the Mavericks a safe four-point cushion that proved to be enough to hand the defending champions their third defeat in four games.

Doncic led the way for Dallas, notching 24 points and nine assists on the night, as continues to pad on his impressive rookie campaign. The hype is real for the youngest MVP in EuroLeague history. It certainly looks like he doesn't need a lot of time to carry his success from Europe as he is averaging 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in his first 15 games in his NBA career.

The Mavericks have themselves a gem right here.
