Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been officially listed as doubtful for Game 1 of their playoff opener against the Utah Jazz.
Of course the news didn't come as a surprise since reports on Friday indicated that the Slovenian youngster is expected to miss the said showdown on Saturday. Doncic is dealing with a left calf strain he sustained in the final game of the regular season, and by the looks of it, he needs more time to heal and recover.
Luka Doncic is the biggest piece of the Mavs' offense, and so naturally, his absence is a brutal blow to a team hoping to take advantage of playing at home for the majority of the series.
The Mavs opted to become a one-star team after trading Kristaps Porzingis at the deadline, as they had high hopes Luka will be able to stay healthy. He has drastically improved his conditioning in the second half of the season, which further raised hopes up that he'd be at his best condition come the postseason.
Unfortunately, as the Mavs tried to fight for a higher playoff seeding, Doncic sustained the injury. Now, their playoff hopes are in peril. Dallas is expected to take Doncic's injury day-to-day, so there is no word yet on his status for Game 2.
Nonetheless, if the Mavs want any chance to win their opening series, they'll need Luka to come back as soon as possible.
