Monday's loss to the Phoenix Suns marked the Dallas Mavericks' sixth consecutive defeat. Rather than venting out his frustration, Luka Doncic is choosing to stay optimistic.

The Mavs were just a few seconds away from snapping their five-game losing streak, but Devin Booker shattered their hearts by hitting a game-winning 3-pointer. While it would be understandable had Doncic criticized his own performance or even his teammates, the Slovenian opted to take the high road amid their struggles.

“We've got to stay positive. I think this is where you can see who we are, in the tough moments. We're sticking together. I think the last two games were way better than before, and this is where the big things come together,” the Mavs star said, per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News.

The Mavs have been struggling to remain consistent so far. In the first few games of the season, many analysts believed that it was because Kristaps Porzingis was still out. But with the Latvian back on the floor, Luka Doncic and Co. still can't find that winning formula.

Dallas entered the 2020-21 NBA season with much expectation. Some predict that Doncic will be among the league's MVP candidates. For the entire squad, especially given their offseason moves, fans and experts alike believe that they'll be one of the top teams in the West and make a deep playoff run.

There's still hope to reach or even surpass these expectations, as they have a manageable 8-13 record. First, however, they need to snap their six-game slump.
