Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks lost another big game on Monday. This time, it was against the Eastern Conference contenders from the City of Brotherly Love. A loss to the Philadelphia 76ers has hampered Dallas' progress on the road to a playoff return. After posting a five-game winning streak, the Mavs have again gone back to their losing ways dropping three of their last four.

This has obviously been a cause for concern for Luka Doncic and the rest of the team but the two-time All-Star is adamant that they're sticking to their goal.

“We’re just trying to get to the six spot,” Luka Doncic said (via Dallas News). “I think that’s our goal right now. Maybe more than the sixth spot.”

This season, a play-in tournament will be held to accommodate the ninth and tenth-seeded teams. No. 9 will be playing No. 10 in a knockout game while Nos. 7 and 8 will be playing for the seventh spot. The loser between the play-in game between 7 and 8 will be facing the winner of the play-in game between 9 and 10. Currently, the Mavs are anxiously sitting at the seventh spot. This is a bit complicated that's why Luka Doncic and his Mavs are gunning for some security at the sixth spot.

Unfortunately, this recent losing skid hasn't helped Luka Doncic and Dallas one bit. After gaining steam winning earlier this month, the Mavs have failed to take advantage of this three-game homestand with a 1-2 record which puts them a couple of games away from the Portland Trail Blazers who are sitting at the sixth spot.

Luka Doncic and the Mavs have 19 games to go get things going and secure a better position coming into the playoffs. Though its ‘Luka Magic' is leading the charge, time isn't on their side at this stage of the NBA's 72-game pandemic season.
