Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic is one of the most high-profile draftees of the 2018 class. This is why a lot of fans were quite intrigued when the 19-year-old's NBA 2K rating was recently revealed to the public.

As it turns out, Doncic was given a respectable 79 overall rating, which is actually not bad considering he has yet to play a single NBA game.

Interestingly enough, per 2kratings.com, Doncic is the first rookie to have his 2K rating confirmed. Even the likes of Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley III — the two players who were picked ahead of Doncic after the Slovenian went third overall — have yet to get their ratings released.

Among the 17 NBA stars that have already had their ratings confirmed, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers unsurprisingly leads the list with a 98 overall rating. Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kawhi Leonard all have 94 ratings, while Karl-Anthony Towns rounds out the current top five with a 91 overall rating.

The popularity of the NBA 2K franchise has reached enormous heights. So much so that NBA players hold their own 2K ratings in high regard. The likes of the aforementioned James and Antetokounmpo have even publicly reacted to their given ratings, proving that even the best of the best care about what the 2K community thinks of them.

For Doncic, he will have this season to up his stock in 2K. If he is able to successfully transition his impressive performances in Europe to the NBA, then we should be seeing a much higher rating next time around.
