Despite the Dallas Mavericks' early exit at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers, Mavs owner Mark Cuban is proud of what the players have achieved both on and off the court.

On the court, Cuban believes that his team did incredible things. While the Clippers were the favorites to win the series, the Rick Carlisle-coached crew gave the Western powerhouse a good challenge. Cuban is in awe that they put up a good fight given the psychological struggles of playing in an isolated location, miles away from their families.

“I’m proud of our guys,” the Mavs boss wrote, per Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News. “And I’m proud of them more for who they are and what they persevered through off the court than all the great things we did on the court.

“As you know very well, it hasn’t been easy to be away from their families, to worry about them, miss important moments in their lives, to not be able to give your children or spouse a hug or just to be there when they wake up or go to sleep.

Off the court, Cuban also commended his players for joining the movement against racism and social injustice. He also praised the Mavs for remaining resilient in these extraordinary times.

“In that bubble so much of their connection to the outside world was social media, and so many on all the different social platforms were hateful and in many cases far far worse. To be sequestered away and to try to not look but to see it. And on top of it all, to have the same fears about the virus for all the people in their lives,” Mark Cuban furthered.

Despite their first-round exit, many expect the Mavs to be a legitimate playoff and title contender in the years to come. This postseason is a learning experience more than anything — something that will be of help as they develop as a unit.
