The Dallas Mavericks just got Dirk Nowitzki back as a special advisor, and team owner Mark Cuban couldn't be more excited for the return of the Mavs legend.

Amid the drama surrounding Dallas after the exit of GM Donnie Nelson and head coach Rick Carlisle, Nowitzki's hiring serves as a bit of a good news for the Mavs. And for Cuban, he knows it will have a positive impact to the team as they search for a new front office head and bench tactician to lead Dallas in the Luka Doncic era.

“Dirk is going to be involved in the entire process of our finding a GM and coach. His insights and input are of course invaluable and I'm excited that he is involved,” Mark Cuban said of the move, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

Having Dirk Nowitzki as a special advisor certainly eases some concerns for the Mavs, particularly those involving Luka Doncic. With reports claiming that the Slovenian youngster is upset about the Nelson exit, rumors about the front office's rift with Luka continue to circulate.

However with Dirk on board, Luka has someone in the front office that he can really trust. The Dallas legend and young superstar share a special bond that they established in their lone year of playing together in 2018-19, so it is certainly massive to have Nowitzki helping the team stabilize the situation.

Luka is expected to sign a $200 million-plus extension with the Mavs. Hopefully, Dirk's presence will instill confidence in him that he can win another title with the franchise.
