Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle is pretty confident that second-year man Luka Doncic can handle the pressure of being the franchise player.

Per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News, Carlisle notes that Doncic has been playing professional ball since he was 13-years-old. Not only that,  but the Mavs star is at an elite level for quite some time already.

“He's a great young player, and so that's going to certainly factor into the organizational decisions on the basketball side,” Carlisle said. “But you're talking about a kid that's been playing professional basketball for six or seven years. He's been multiple MVP in Europe. He's been a multiple champion in Europe. He's been the best player most of the time when he's been on the floor. This is old hat to him.”

Luka Doncic won the 2018 Rookie of the Year. However, midway through the 2018-19 season, the Mavs and the rest of the league were pretty much convinced that he was a special player.

Carlisle already entrusted the then 19-year-old Doncic as the team's primary offensive orchestrator — a position that requires elite decision-making skills and a mastery of the fundamentals.

Doncic proved that he can handle the tasks given to him. As such, the Mavs tweaked their roster and added players who can effectively coexist with the Slovenian star.

Dallas is entering an exciting time with Doncic on the fold. Fans should keep their eyes peeled on how the Doncic-era will turn out.
