Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, one of the most decorated players and coaches in NBA history, believes that Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks will be a cornerstone of the league for man years to come, according to a Tweet from Nick Friedell of ESPN.

Certainly, after a striking Rookie of the Year campaign in which the 20-year-old Slovenian phenom took the league by storm and nearly notched a unanimous ROY vote, the former EuroLeague MVP has been nothing short of transcendent in his second full season in the NBA.

Kerr knows something about franchise cornerstones, as he has been in basketball for multiple decades now across varying levels of the league including as a player, administrator and now coach. During that time, the well-traveled Kerr has played with or coached a bevy of All-Stars, superstars and NBA icons, such as Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Rasheed Wallace, Robert Parish and Klay Thompson.

Luka Doncic does have the air about him of a player that will garner a lot of attention over the years, and at this juncture, it seems well deserved.

Again, at only 20 years old, Doncic is top 20 in a huge number of categories of statistics. Most notably, Doncic is the only player in the top 20 in points, rebounds and assists per game. Of those, the Mavericks star is No. 3 in the league in both scoring (29.1 PPG) and passing (9.0 APG).

Kerr is an authority on star players, so him saying this about Doncic is high praise indeed.
