Former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady heaped praise onto Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic during an episode of “The Jump” on ESPN. McGrady event went as far as to say that the Mavs' sophomore sensation is the best point guard in the league as things stand.

Of course, these comments came with a slight caveat, that being an injury to Stephen Curry:

“With Steph being out. I know Kyrie is out right now. Westbrook is still playing. I'm going to say this: he is the best point guard in the game right now, with Steph being out.”

The comments come just one day after Doncic recorded his second straight triple-double against the Golden State Warriors in a Mavs blowout victory. Doncic has now scored 77 combined points over the course of the last two games, and he already had 22 points at the end of the first quarter against the Warriors.

In fact, Doncic outscored the Warriors as a team in the quarter. He also had more assists…and more rebounds. It was the first time this feat had been accomplished since Allen Iverson in 2003, according to ESPN Stats and Information:

Doncic leads the NBA with seven triple-doubles this season. He is averaging 29.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists through his first 14 games while also shooting close to 49 percent from the field.

More importantly, Doncic's play has resulted in team success. The Mavs improved to 9-5 after beating the Warriors, and they have now won three in a row.

Needless to say, the 20-year-old Doncic is putting everyone on notice this season, and he is already convincing some that he is the most talented point guard in the league
