It has taken Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic less than a year to establish a “patented” move in the NBA. James Harden has his array of handles into a stepback jumper, Carmelo Anthony had his turnaround jumper, Dirk Nowitzki has his one-legged high-arc, and now Doncic has hit stepback. Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic was on the unfortunate receiving end of it in action during Thursday's contest.

That Slovenian on Serbian crime wouldn't help the Mavs claim the victory, as they lost by 16 on Thursday. But Doncic did compile another double-double, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds across his 26 minutes, thoroughly having been stymied from the field to the tune of a 4-for-19 shooting effort. His shooting percentage (21.1) was his lowest in a single game since Dec. 10.

On the other side of the coin, Bogdanovic has scuffled as of late in adjusting offensively to his role off the bench. He has averaged just 9.9 points per game on 34 percent shooting during the month of March, with Doncic's stepback serving as another forgettable moment.

The Mavs won't be heading to the postseason in 2018-19, but that hasn't meant the shutting down of the league's odds-on favorite to win the Rookie of the Year Award. Despite some knee ailments, Doncic has continued to take the floor, even as his shooting percentage during March (38.7) has taken a dip from his season averages. There are just 10 games remaining in the rookie campaign of Doncic, who will cede way for stepback highlights to Harden and others during the postseason.
