Max Scherzer is pitching again. After suffering an oblique injury that's kept him out of the New York Mets rotation for over a month now, Mad Max is back to serving up strikes … for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, that is.

The recovering Mets pitcher made a rehab start in double A, tossing 65 pitches across three and a third innings. Scherzer gave up three hits, with one leaving the park resulting in two earned runs.

But safe to say Scherzer's isn't intent on limiting the damage for double A Binghamton. Asked about where his mind is at following his start, the former Cy Young winner had this to say:

“So eager. I want to get out there so bad,” said Scherzer on awaiting return to the Mets rotation. “You put in all this work, you see the team playing great baseball, you want to be out there competing and winning with them. For me, I want to be in the big leagues, not be a Rumble Pony.”

All due respect to the members of the Rumble Ponies' roster, but Max Scherzer wants a ticket out of there as soon as possible. There's a decent chance that he only undergoes one rehab start, with a return to New York albeit with a pitch count in his first start or two.
