The Michigan football team is hoping to see some recruiting success in their 2025 class after winning the national title last year, but things have been a bit slow so far. There's no reason for concern, however, as the cycle is early, and the five commits that the Wolverines have landed are all four-stars. Michigan has a lot of other targets that they are hoping to land, and one of them is four-star running back Jordon Davison. The Wolverines took a big step toward landing his commitment as Davison recently locked in an official visit to Ann Arbor.
“Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei running back Jordon Davison narrowed his list down to Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon recently,” A report from On3 said. “The four-star plans to commit to one of those schools before his senior season and he has scheduled official visits to each before doing so. The No. 90 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking will be in Tuscaloosa on May 31, Ann Arbor on June 7, Eugene on June 14 and Columbus on June 21.”
Jordon Davison is a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, according to 247 Sports. He is the #98 overall player in the class, the #7 RB in the class and the #10 player in the state of California. He currently attends Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.
This would be a huge pickup for new head coach Sherrone Moore and new RB coach Tony Alford. Davison is planning on committing this summer, but that isn't set in stone.
“I am looking for the best opportunity,” Davison said. “Relationships are essential, how running backs are used in the offense and where I have a chance to win will be things I look for in the future. My goal is to commit later this summer, but there is no guarantee. My focus will be on these four schools and I am in a good place. It will come down to opportunity and where I feel is the best place I can thrive at. I want to be around good people, have support beyond football and be at the right place to succeed.”
Jordon Davison has a great relationship with Tony Alford
Jordon Davison has been in contact with Tony Alford for awhile, and when Alford left Ohio State to join the Michigan football program, he told Davison a couple days before the news dropped. Their relationship has remained strong despite the move for Alford, and that's huge for the Wolverines.
“Coach Tony Alford and I have a special relationship,” Davison said. “From day one when I worked out with him at camp, we have had that connection. Since he got to Michigan, we have remained in contact. He told me he was leaving Ohio State two days before it came out, so we have that type of relationship. With him at Michigan, that impacts my interest in them. I have been up there, and … now have to get up there, see how I feel and go from there.”
Michigan will try to wow Davison on his official visit, and then they'll wait and see what he decides to do on commitment day.
