The transfer portal is one of the biggest parts of the college football offseason, and now that it is June, the spring window has been closed for awhile, and rosters are just about settled. After losing head coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL, the transfer portal became an instant threat to the Michigan footballteam this offseason. Any time a head coach leaves, there are always going to be departures. All the Wolverines could do is control the damage, and new head coach Sherrone Moore did a good job of that.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh accomplished his goal of winning a national championship with the Wolverines, but he hasn’t won a Super Bowl yet. He has been close, and he is now with the Los Angeles Chargers working to achieve that goal.
Michigan football lost Jim Harbaugh, and a lot of his staff followed him to the NFL as well. Sherrone Moore is the new head coach for the Wolverines, and he did a good job early in the offseason with hires to fill out his staff. There have been obstacles, like two coaches arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, but Moore has his staff.
Not only did Michigan lose a lot from their coaching staff, but the majority of their starters from last season are gone, too. The Wolverines are coming off of a national championship, and that team was so good because of all the NFL talent that they had. Michigan had a chance to break the record for most players drafted by a single school at last week’s NFL Draft, but they came up a few picks short. Still, they lost a lot of talent, and that made the transfer portal situation even more crucial.
The Wolverines did a good job controlling the damage. There were departures, but Michigan didn't lose that many potential starters. The first window of the portal saw Keon Sabb leave for Alabama, and that one stung. However, the spring window wasn't as bad, and the portal also goes both ways. Michigan lost some good players, but they are also bringing in some new talent. Here is the sneakiest pickup that the Wolverines got during the spring transfer portal window.

Michigan football has added a good amount of talent from the spring transfer portal window, but the sneakiest pickup is Aamir Hall, who is coming over from FCS Albany. Hall started his career at Richmond and transferred to Albany after two seasons there. He has played in three college football seasons.
Coming from an FCS school, people might be sleeping on Aamir Hall a bit. Hall hasn't played against the level of competition that he will face at Michigan, but he was the best of the best in FCS as he is a former All-American. Hall has had a great career so far.
Last season at Albany, Aamir Hall racked up 57 total tackles, 13 passes defends, one forced fumble and five interceptions. He was an absolute stud last year, and he should be able to find success at the FBS level as well.
Michigan's rivals might not be too concerned with the Wolverines picking up Aamir Hall in the transfer portal, but watch out. It won't be surprising if he has a good season in 2024.
