Arsenal returned to its winning ways on Premier League matchday 13 as it came away with a 2-0 home win against Newcastle United.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and his side sure came into this fixture with much pressure following the lowly 4-0 league loss to Liverpool last week. But in what turned out to be one convincing performance, Arsenal simply had its way over the course of the match, as goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli proved to be just enough for its seventh league win of the campaign.

At one point in the season, Arsenal sat at 20th place in the league standings. But after 13 fixtures, it now holds the fifth spot in the league table.

Overall, Arteta is not currently focused on his team's odds of possibly soon moving into a top-four spot in the Premier League but is rather set on having a game-by-game mentality, which he opened up about following the home victory over Newcastle United.

“We go game by game,” Arteta said. “After the defeat at Anfield, obviously you see things in a different perspective maybe, but we've been on a good run and we have to carry on going and let's see where it takes us, but now let's analyze this game and start to prepare the game against Man United as quick as possible because we don't have many days.”

As Arteta touched on, his Arsenal side will have an away league fixture against Manchester United up next. A win in this contest could move the Gunners up to a top-four spot in the league table pending other results on matchday 14.
