With MLB Opening Day just a day away, excitement is building among baseball fans, who were beginning to think they wouldn't receive the enjoyment of America's Pastime this year with the dreaded lockout that droned on for days and days. However, the lockout is mercifully a thing of the past and Opening Day is just around the corner. For some teams, at least. The latest installment of baseball's oldest rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees was set to be renewed at Yankee Stadium on the season's first day. However, the Opening Day showdown between the two hated rivals is one of multiple games to be postponed by the MLB a day in advance, per the team's Twitter accounts.

Per the team's Twitter account, the Yankees announced that their Opening Day clash with the Red Sox has been postponed due to inclement weather. Must be some weather to cancel the game a day in advance!

But the Red-Sox-Yankees game wasn't the only contest to be rescheduled due to less-than-ideal weather conditions.

The Minnesota Twins' game against the Seattle Mariners has also been postponed. Each of the Yankees, Red Sox, Twins and Mariners were set to have the day off on April 8 after their Opening Day contests, so the MLB didn't have to worry about scheduling doubleheaders on the season's second day.

Still, it's a bummer for fans who were pumped to see their teams take the field after such an arduous offseason. They'll have to wait another day for the excitement of Opening Day.
