New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge is in the final year of his contract, and with no new deal agreed upon between the slugger and the club, this could very well be his final Opening Day in the Bronx.

Speaking with ESPN's Marly Rivera, Judge admitted that he's given some thought to the fact that he may not see another Opening Day in pinstripes if a new deal doesn't get locked down. His focus, however, remains on bringing a World Series championship to the Yankees for the first time since 2009.

“You think about it,” admitted Judge to Rivera. “But, ultimately, it comes down to ‘I've got games to win.' It's been a while since Yankees fans have held a championship in the city, so I've got a job to do, go out and win. For them.”

Judge and the Yankees were reportedly working on a new contract during Spring Training but no deal has yet to materialize. Reports indicated the deal would be in the range of $30 million per season, making Judge one of baseball's highest earners. It remains to be seen whether the two sides are close, but Yankees fans will be hoping a deal comes to fruition soon.

This season, Judge is due to make $17 million. He'll be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career in 2023, at which point he'll be 31 years old.

In 2021, Judge featured in 148 games for the Yankees, slashing .287/.373/.544 with 39 home runs and 98 RBI. He made his third All-Star Game and finished fourth in AL MVP voting, while also taking home his second Silver Slugger award.
