The Atlanta Braves will try to complete a four-game sweep as they face the Colorado Rockies in the finale at Coors Field on Sunday. It's time to continue our MLB odds coverage with a Braves-Rockies prediction and pick.

The Braves defeated the Rockies 6-2 in 11 innings on Saturday. Atlanta trailed 1-0 entering the sixth inning when Austin Riley clobbered a 1-2 pitch from Kyle Freeland into the seats in left-center field. It was the 14th home run in 2022 for Riley and made it a 1-1 game. Neither team scored the rest of the way, which meant it was time for extra innings. After the Braves scored on a sacrifice fly in the 10th, the Rockies answered back. Elias Diaz clipped an RBI single that tied it once more, sending it into the 11th inning.

Marcell Ozuna slugged an RBI double to give the Braves the lead back. Then, William Contreras came through with an RBI double that drove home Ozuna and made it 4-2. Adam Duvall came to the plate looking to add the finishing touch. Next, he delivered with a two-run shot that gave the Braves a 6-2 lead. It would be too much for the Rockies to overcome as the Braves beat them for the third game in a row.

The Braves are 27-27 and second in the NL East, while the Rockies are 23-30 and fifth in the NL West.

Why The Braves Could Cover The Spread

The Braves will look to Charlie Morton to take the mound on Sunday. Morton is an ageless wonder, but it seems like it may be catching up to him. He has not pitched well at all this season, stacking a 3-3 record with a 5.47 ERA. Additionally, he has seen his ERA rise from 4.93 to 5.47 over the last four games. He is not going deep into games anymore, which is hurting his team. Now, he will try and contain a Colorado offense that can swing with the best of them at Coors.

The Atlanta offense ranks 16th in batting average, 19th in on-base percentage, 13th in runs, and fourth in home runs. Riley has been a monster for them and is on a solid 40-42 home run pace if he keeps the momentum. Additionally, Ozuna and Contreras each have 10 home runs and have slugged the ball efficiently. All three batters contributed to the win Saturday and will lock and load again to try and finish the sweep. The Braves may need to hit better because there is no indication that Morton can give them a solid game, which means the bullpen will need to perform.

The bullpen had a lot of work Saturday, going seven innings. However, they allowed just one run, and it was the run that extended the game one more inning. The bullpen worked two innings of scoreless baseball on Friday and gave up one run on Thursday. It is a bend-don't-break bullpen, as they are limiting the damage.

The Braves will cover the spread if Morton can give them a solid outing. Also, the bullpen needs to continue its stellar performance and produce at all costs. It will be interesting to see how they perform if Morton puts them in an early hole.

Why The Rockies Could Cover The Spread

The Rockies will turn to Ryan Feltner on the hill. Feltner is 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA through three starts. He tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts in his recent start. Additionally, he has lowered his ERA from 7.20 to 3.71. Feltner will look for some help from an offense that has mustered three runs through two games.

The Rockies are second in batting average, third in on-base percentage, eighth in runs, and 13th in slugging percentage. Alternatively, they are only 22nd in home runs. Despite playing at Coors Field, the Rockies have not mashed the ball much. C.J. Cron is their leader in that category, as he has 14 home runs in 2022. Also, Charlie Blackman has contributed to the tally, hitting seven home runs with 25 RBI in 2022. The Rockies will need them both to excel to have a chance of avoiding the sweep.

The Rockies will cover the spread if Feltner can continue his recent success and give Colorado a solid outing. Additionally, Cron and Blackman need to liven up the offense and attack Morton early and often.

Final Braves-Rockies Prediction & Pick

The Rockies are slumping right now. Also, the Braves are playing well. It should be a Braves win, but Morton is difficult to trust. The game feels like it will go the other way. Expect the Rockies to salvage the series and avoid a sweep.

Final Braves-Rockies Prediction & Pick: Rockies: +1.5 (-118)
