Atlanta Bravers starting pitcher Spencer Strider made his 2025 debut last week against the Toronto Blue Jays, and he is now back on the IL with a hamstring injury. Strider was out for over a year after undergoing elbow surgery, and now he is going to have to miss even more time.

“Atlanta ace Spencer Strider returns to the IL with a strained hamstring after making his 2025 debut last week,” Bob Nightengale said in a post.

Spencer Strider reportedly hurt his hamstring while playing catch on Monday.

“Strider strained his hamstring while playing catch today, the Braves said,” David O'Brien said in a post. “Came in afterward and said he wouldn't be able to pitch tomorrow. They're still deciding who'll start tomorrow.”

Last year was a short one for Strider as he had just two starts before missing the remainder of the season. He suffered a UCL injury, and he ended up needing a surgery that is an alternative to Tommy John surgery. Strider was out for over a year, but he was finally able to pitch again last Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Strider looked good against the Blue Jays as he pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits. He struck out five batters and walked one. Strider didn't get a lot of run support in the game unfortunately, and Toronto went on to win 3-1.

The good news regarding Strider's injury news is that is not related to his previous injury or surgery. Lower body injuries can also be detrimental for pitchers, but a hamstring injury shoud be much easier for Strider to handle compared to what he went through last year.

It's unclear how severe Spencer Strider's hamstring injury is, but hopefully it doesn't keep him out for too long as he has spent his fair share of time on the IL.
