Tommy Pham takes his fantasy football seriously. The Cincinnati Reds outfielder has made headlines of late after cameras and spectators caught him smacking Joc Pederson over their fantasy league from a season prior.
The beef between the two stemmed from some incendiary comments Pederson joked about the struggles of the San Diego Padres, Pham's team at the time. But he also had some issues about their league rules, which the Reds player believes Pederson didn't abide by.
Via The Cincinnati Enquirer:
“We had rules to the IR. I know the ESPN app rules. We had our own individual rules,” said Pham.
But he also put some blame on the league commissioner, who also happens to be arguably the best baseball player on the planet in Mike Trout. According to Pham, the 3-time MVP isn't as good in policing a fantasy football league as he is at getting on base.
“Trout did a terrible job, man,” the Reds outfielder said, laughing. “Trout is the worst commissioner in fantasy sports because he allowed a lot of (stuff) to go on, and he could’ve solved it all.
But at the same time, Pham doesn't completely pin the blame on Mike Trout because they thrust him into a position nobody wanted to take.
I don’t want to be the (bleeping) commissioner; I’ve got other (stuff) to do. (Trout) didn’t want to do it. We put it on him, so it’s kind of our fault too because we made him commissioner.”
All this could have been avoided if Mike Trout took his commissioner job seriously. Thankfully, he's a much better baseball player than his is a commish.
