Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout has reportedly been battling a stomach illness over the past couple of days, which has impacted his performance on the field. Despite being included in the starting lineup on Sunday, Trout recorded just one hit in the loss to Houston. The Angels are set to host the Marlins for a three-game series starting Monday night, and it doesn't seem as if Trout's status has improved. With the Angels' second series of the season looming, is Mike Trout playing vs. the Marlins?

Is Mike Trout playing vs. Marlins?

Mike Trout is not in the Angels' lineup for Monday's clash against the Marlins, but Joe Maddon revealed the superstar could be available in a pinch-hitting role later on in the game, according to Jeff Fletcher.

Trout was able to overcome his illness on Sunday night, but it still seems to be slowing him down on Monday. As a result, Maddon is opting to leave him out of the lineup in order to get some added rest. While Trout won't be in his usual role on Monday, there's a chance fans get to see him later in the game if the Angels need a boost at the plate.

With Trout not in the starting mix on Monday, it's expected one of Brandon Marsh or Jo Adell will take over in center field. First pitch is set for 9:38 p.m. EST on Monday night from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, but unfortunately for fans, there's a strong possibility that Mike Trout's injury will hold him out of action.
