The New York Yankees made a trade splash when they acquired Minnesota Twins third baseman Josh Donaldson, along with shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt. One of the first reactions from Yankees fans was one of surprise, as not many expected Donaldson and Kiner-Falefa to be trade targets of the club. However, another initial reaction was one of curiosity. How would Donaldson, who called out Yankees ace Gerrit Cole for his perceived role in the sticky substance scandal in baseball last season, fit into the clubhouse? Donaldson answered some of those questions on Monday ahead of New York's first official Spring Training workout, as reported by Pete Caldera of northjersey.com.

On his first full day as a Yankee, Donaldson sought out the club’s ace for a clear-the-air conversation Monday at Steinbrenner Field, prior to the first official workout of an abbreviated spring training.

“I think we both felt very good about where it ended,’’ Donaldson said. Cole termed it “a good convo.’’

Per Caldera, Donaldson looked for Cole so the two could have a “clear-the-air” conversation after the Yankees' trade for the former MVP. Donaldson said that both he and Cole “felt very good about where it ended”, with Cole echoing that sentiment.

That's good news for the Yankees, because things were pretty tense between the two. Donaldson essentially made Cole the poster child of the MLB's sticky substance scandal, with Cole not taking kindly to it.

The two immediately met on the field right after, with Cole striking out Donaldson and tipping his cap to the then-Twins third baseman after the play.

However, judging by Donaldson's words, it sounds like Yankees fans have nothing to worry about when it comes to he and Cole's clubhouse chemistry.
