The Field of Dreams game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox had an ending one could mistake for a Hollywood script. Unfortunately for Yankees closer Zack Britton, the conclusion of the game was something right out of a disaster flick — with him on the center of it all.

To recall, Britton toed the rubber in the bottom of the ninth inning of Wednesday night's game against the White Sox with a one-run lead to protect. The Yankees are 63-52, as of this writing, 7.5 games of the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays, and are given just 41.4 percent by FanGraphs to reach the postseason.

Zack Britton used to be one of the best closers in the game, but that's clearly no longer the case today. He's only filling in as closer for the team while the Yankees wait for the return of Aroldis Chapman, and could soon lose his temporary gig to someone else.

So far this season, Britton only has one save, an ERA of 6.32, and a 1.66 WHIP in 18 appearances.
