Kevin Porter Jr. might eventually become the biggest surprise in the 2019 NBA Draft, which is set on Thursday.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Porter is arguably one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft despite not being mentioned among the options for the top picks on Thursday. In fact, one executive said that Porter “has the gift” to become at top-5 pick this year.

Porter was actually considered as one of the top prospects for the 2019 NBA Draft, but his stock continuously dropped during his lone year at USC. The 19-year-old guard played just 21 games, as he dealt with quad and ankle injuries.

Aside from injuries, Porter was also suspended because of undisclosed conduct issues. He knew that the injuries and suspension hurt his draft stock, but he appears determined to prove his doubters wrong. Porter believes that he will eventually prove that being considered as a top-5 pick before was no fluke.

“Before everything that happened, I was considered a top 5 pick, so I feel like I'm still a top 5, and I believe after this whole experience and everything,” Porter said via NBC Sports. “I'm going to be back where I was supposed to be and where people expected me to be.”

In 21 games with the Trojans, Porter averaged 9.5 points on top of 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 22.1 minutes.
