Michigan State freshman forward Jaren Jackson Jr. has declared for the NBA Draft, as the top prospect tweeted out his decision to go pro.

“Spartans, this was not an automatic decision. And honestly thank you for making it one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to think about,” said Jackson in a Twitter statement. “While playing in the NBA was always my dream and desire, I did not know the opportunity would present itself quite this way. I'm ready to live my dreams and cannot pass it up. Thereforme, the time has come to declare for the 2018 NBA Draft.”

Jackson is expected to be a lottery pick in this year's draft, as the 6-foot-11 forward was listed as ESPN's No. 3 prospect in the latest ESPN mock draft.

With an NBA-ready body and strong all-around game shown through his freshman season, the Indiana native is a mixed bag of what the modern big man has become — able to battle on the block as well as rip teams apart from beyond the arc, shooting a legitimate 39.6 percent for the year.

Jackson's averages aren't anything to write home about, posting 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game as a freshman power forward, but a dominant 51.3 percent from the field, coupled with a 79.7 clip from the foul line and his 3-point shooting have made him a prospect with a very high ceiling as the next Swiss Army knife to come into the league.
