Potential No. 1 pick and Georgia standout Anthony Edwards has declared to enter the 2020 NBA Draft, according to Evan Daniels of 247Sports.

“I just want to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft,” said Edwards.

Edwards, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound hybrid guard, had a sound freshman season at Georgia, putting up 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists a game. Edwards was slated as the top selection in Top247 recruiting rankings in 2019.

The gaudy combo guard wasn't shy about where he should land, either:

“I think I should go number one, no doubt,” said Edwards. “That’s the only place I think I should go.”

Edwards impressed NBA executives and scouts with his versatile scoring arsenal, his playmaking ability, and the longevity that his defensive prowess offers at the NBA level. He's a well-rounded package with a dynamic upside — something NBA front offices salivate for on draft night.

The Bulldogs standout scored at least 20 points in 13 games and reached the 30-point mark three times during his lone collegiate season.

“I think he has to be a realistic option for No.  1,” one NBA scout told 247Sports. “He has size and strength for position with ability to make shots and create for others. He's shown glimpses defensively and can impact both sides of the ball. The potential is there to be a future superstar .”

“I just feel like I got the physical tools,” Edwards said when asked why he was ready for the Draft. “I feel like my body frame is already there and I’m going to stay in the gym and continue to get better.”

Edwards is also ranked as the top prospect in ESPN's latest mock draft rankings, a spot ahead of LaMelo Ball and Memphis freshman James Wiseman, who dropped from the top spot after he was suspended by the NCAA for receiving improper benefits.

As it sits right now, the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Minnesota Timberwolves have an equal 14% chance to land the No. 1 pick, with others like the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons laying closely in the mix.
