Donte DiVincenzo almost became a Phoenix Suns player. According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7, the Suns had a target on DiVincenzo’s back and were ready to take him off the board until the Philadelphia 76ers contacted Phoenix for a trade involving another Villanova Wildcats product in Mikal Bridges.

Crazy final minutes Suns were selecting DiVincenzo but got trade call from Philly and instead made trade with Philly for Mikal Bridges

Instead, the Suns selected Zhaire Smith as the 16th overall pick in the draft before agreeing with the Sixers to send the former Texas Tech Red Raider to Philly, which in turn would ship Bridges and a future first-round pick, courtesy of the Miami Heat, per Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN.

Suns are acquiring Mikal Bridges in a deal that will send Smith to Sixers, league source tells ESPN. Suns will send 2021 first-round pick via Miami in deal too.

With Donte DiVincenzo available past the 16th spot on the draft board, the Milwaukee Bucks capitalized on the opportunity and selected the “The Michael Jordan of Delaware” using their no. 17 pick.

DiVincenzo boosted his stock in this year’s NCAA National Tournament in which he was given the 2018 Final Four Most Outstanding Player award for his heroics in the tournament.

In Milwaukee, DiVincenzo will join Giannis Antetokounmpo and will add more firepower to the Bucks’ offense together with the Greek Freak and Khris Middleton.
