Ahead of Game 5 of the NBA Finals featuring the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN released a new episode of his popular podcast titled The Woj Pod.

In his most recent episode, Wojnarowski discussed the terrifically entertaining Warriors-Raptors series. In particular, Woj relayed a story that Manu Ginobili told him of the 2014 San Antonio Spurs’ mindset as they faced off against the Miami Heat for the second straight Finals:

“Manu said, ‘We were like a hungry, wounded animal. Take it to 15 (points ahead), take it to 20, take it to 25.' This (2019 Finals) reminds me of that.”

Woj is referring to the ferocity with which the Raptors have played against the two-time defending champion Warriors, as they have not taken their foot off the gas all series long.

The same could be said about the Spurs of 2014. They came back from getting ousted by the Heat in memorable fashion — Ray Allen’s game-tying triple in Game 6 springs to mind — to absolutely wiping the floor with Miami in the following Finals.

This year’s Raptors are seemingly playing the same way, though they will surely need to muster their finest efforts as the Warriors try to come back from a 3-1 deficit. The Dubs won Game 5, and so Toronto certainly needs to show their hunger again heading to Oracle Arena for Game 6.
