After the Boston Celtics booked their ticket to the championship against the Golden State Warriors, the opening NBA Finals odds quickly dropped as well. Naturally, the Dubs head into the finale as the slight favorites.

Per FanDuel, the Celtics open up as 3.5 underdogs in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. That is not a big difference at all, suggesting how many view the contest to be a tight one right from the start.

It's not surprising that the Warriors are the favorites to win Game 1, though. After all, they are a team with plenty of championship experience, while the Celtics are heading to their first championship game with the current roster they have.

Not to mention that the Warriors have homecourt advantage and are coming to the game with more rest after finishing the Western Conference Finals in five matches. In contrast, Boston will have little rest after going the distance with the Heat.

Still, as what the Celtics have proven, you cannot count them out. While the NBA Finals odds have them as underdogs, they sure know how to bite and fight back. They often dominated their games against the Heat, and so the Warriors cannot afford to be complacent against them if they want to win.

It is also worth noting that the Celtics are 9-7 against the Steve Kerr-coached Warriors. Stephen Curry is also 11-11 in the games he played against the Celtics throughout his career.

Game 1 of the NBA Finals is scheduled on Thursday at Chase Center.
