Phoenix Suns big man Javale McGee played a key part in the team's tremendous season in 2021-22, despite their struggles in the playoffs. But, he was playing on a one-year, $5 million deal and it appears the veteran is looking for more stability in his future in NBA Free Agency.
Per John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, McGee is garnering interest from the Nets, Bucks, and Mavericks:
As Gambadoro noted, the Suns may not be willing to hand McGee a two-year extension in NBA Free Agency, which could result in him signing elsewhere. The Bucks, Mavs, and Nets could all use more frontcourt depth and McGee may be a nice addition.
The 34-year-old averaged 9.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game last season for the Suns, playing 15.2 minutes per night. McGee isn't going to be a starter or anything for these teams interested, but he's a capable big who can offer a rebounding and scoring in the second unit.
Phoenix will surely be interested in retaining him in NBA Free Agency, especially if Deandre Ayton does end up leaving due to the lack of a max deal. But, McGee is clearly keen on more than just a one-year extension. We'll see what happens once the market opens up on Thursday at 6 pm ET, with a flurry of moves expected to happen across the Association.
