10-time NBA all-star Jason Kidd was one of the best all-around players that ever set foot in the league. His consistency in terms of his leadership and playmaking made him one of the most sought-after point guards of his generation.

But if there is one thing that Kidd was inconsistent at, it would be in his selections as an All-Star. A Redditor who goes by the username of Niners13-3In18 posted a trivial fact of Kidd's strange string of All-Star appearances.

“Jason Kidd made 10 All-Star appearances. In 5 of those he did not make the game the year prior. He made in 96, 98, 2000-2004, 2007-2008, and 2010 after missing games in 95, 97, 99, 06, and 09. Special shout out to Earl Monroe for the most appearances without any back to backs. He made it in 69, 71, 75, and 77.”

With the exception of his consecutive selections from 2000-2004, Kidd has missed out on back-to-back appearances as an All-Star. This is a strange trend as players usually go on a marathon of appearances or completely fall out from superstar status after making consecutive trips to the much-celebrated weekend.

This could also be seen as a testament to Kidd's work ethic on improving his game.

Kidd was the second overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft, but critics and scouts were skeptical about his shaky outside shooting. In his rookie season, it seemed like the critics were right as Kidd shot a lowly 27 percent from beyond the arc. But he constantly worked through this part of his game on his way to becoming a legitimate outside threat in the league. In the 2007-08 season, Kidd put up a career-high 46 percent clip from deep.
